Mtskheta
Being the old capital and one of the oldest cities of Georgia, Mtskheta is located in 30 minute’s drive from Tbilisi. This underrated magical town will surprise you with its stunning medieval structures, amazing landscapes. Also considered the religious center of the country, Mtskheta is the spiritual place, where the three important churches are located: Svetitskhoveli, Jvari and Samtavro Monastery.

Jvari Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage Site located on a rocky mountaintop will surprise visitors not only with its beautiful architecture, yet also the amazing view to the intersection of stormy waters of the Aragvi and Kura rivers.

    

Svetitskhoveli Cathedral is the second largest church in Georgia, after the Holy Trinity Cathedral. You can visit the amazing building as a part of your trip to the Old Mtskheta, where you will also be able to walk in the ancient cozy streets of the old town, try delicious local food and buy handcrafts, homemade ice cream, jam, pickles, cheese, honey and etc.

Another UNESCO World Heritage Site, Samtavro Monastery is the last of the three important churches of Mtskheta, that once was considered the richest church in Georgia due to donations.
